Background of Kenpachi’s Sword
Kenpachi Zaraki is a member of the Gotei 13, one of the armed forces of the Soul Society in the anime and manga series Bleach. The sacred title “Kenpachi” is only given to the strongest Shinigami of each generation, and they are entrusted with guarding the souls who experience transmigration in the afterlife. A master swordsman and a powerful fighter, Kenpachi earned the title of captain of the 11th Division in the Gotei 13.
The Nozarashi (trans. "Weather Beaten") is Kenpachi’s trademark Zanpakuto sword which he uses to fight for the fearsome military organization “the Gotei 13.” The true power of his sword activates when he says his signature command “Drink.” When its full power is released, the sword transforms into a powerful axe-like shape which has the special ability to slice through objects with incredible force. The Nozarashi has a signature curved guard, notched blade design and sheath and handle wrapped in white bandages.
